Mendoza is a province of west-central Argentina at the foot of the Andes Mountains. With an area of 148.827 km², it is the seventh largest province in the country, which occupies 5.35% of the total surface. The 2010 national census established a population of 1.741.610 inhabitants, which makes it the fourth most populous province.

The Capital of the same name, complies with the bordering departments a conurbation occupying an area near the 3,600 km2, situated on an irrigated oasis of agricultural origin.

The mountainous area occupies the western half, and in it the Andes Mountains reaches its most important elevations; including Cerro Aconcagua with 6.962 meters. The eastern plains or Cuyanas Crossings are arid plains of desert vegetation and sandy areas. Through this area run the Mendoza, Tunuyán, Diamante and Atuel rivers which are used for irrigation.
